This trifle is perfect when you want a stunning dessert without turning on the oven. The combination of light angel food cake, rich creamy filling, and bright berries is always a winner. If fresh berries are expensive or out of season, frozen ones work beautifully – just partially thaw them. The strawberry glaze is optional if you’re serving the trifle the same day, but it helps keep the fruit fresh if you make it a day ahead. A clear trifle bowl shows off the gorgeous layers, but any deep bowl works.

Method
- Make the whipped cream: beat the cold heavy cream on high speed for about 3 minutes, until fluffy and stiff peaks form. Keep in the fridge.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the cold milk and instant vanilla pudding until well blended. Add the refrigerated sweetened condensed milk and whisk until smooth. Gently fold in the whipped cream until combined. Cover and refrigerate.
- Cut the angel food cake into 1-inch cubes. Place one-third of the cubes in the bottom of a trifle bowl.
- Spread one-third of the cream mixture evenly over the cake cubes.
- Arrange about one-quarter of the berries (fresh and/or partially thawed) on top of the cream. For a pretty look, press some strawberry slices against the sides of the bowl.
- Spread a thin layer of strawberry glaze over the fruit.
- Repeat the layering: add another third of cake cubes, another third of cream, another quarter of fruit, and another thin layer of glaze. Do this once more to form a third layer, using the remaining cake and cream, but saving the last quarter of fruit and any leftover glaze for the top.
- Finish by arranging the remaining fruit decoratively over the top. Brush a thin layer of glaze over the fruit to keep it fresh and shiny. Refrigerate until serving.
💡 Tips
- Use a clear trifle bowl to show off the colorful layers.
- If you don't have strawberry glaze, you can make a quick one by heating 1/2 cup strawberry jam with 2 tablespoons water until melted and smooth.
- This trifle keeps well in the fridge for up to 2 days.
