Ingredients
Converted amounts are rounded.
Method
- In a large pot over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the chopped onion and ground beef, then season with 7 Spice, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is soft and the beef is browned.
- Add the rinsed basmati rice and the drained chickpeas to the pot. Stir well to combine everything.
- Pour in the water and mix all the ingredients together. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and let it cook undisturbed for 15 minutes.
- Remove the pot from the heat but keep it covered. Let the steam continue cooking the rice for another 5 to 10 minutes.
- Uncover the pot, fluff the rice with a fork. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and toasted pine nuts, then serve warm.
💡 Tips
- For extra flavor, toast the pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden, shaking often.
- Use a fork to fluff the rice gently so it stays light and fluffy.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper with the other spices.
