Juicy, moist, and packed with flavor, these stuffed burgers take the classic beef patty to the next level. The combination of grated tomato, red onion, and herbs infuses the meat with a rich, aromatic taste, while the hidden pocket of feta cheese adds a creamy, salty surprise in every bite.
Baking the burgers in the oven instead of frying keeps them tender and perfectly crusty on the outside. Serve them warm with a fresh leafy salad drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze for a complete, satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Converted amounts are rounded.
Method
- In a large bowl, combine the minced beef with the grated tomato, grated red onion, mashed garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, parsley, oregano, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Knead well with your hands for about 10 minutes until the mixture is firm and all ingredients are evenly incorporated. If it feels too sticky, add a little more breadcrumbs; if too dry, add a splash of water or olive oil. Alternatively, you can mix with a hand mixer using the dough hook on low speed.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for 10–15 minutes to let it set.
- Cut the feta cheese into small cubes and sprinkle with a little dried oregano. If desired, you can also add some finely chopped tomatoes and bell peppers to the stuffing.
- Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions. Shape each into a thin, flat patty. Place some feta cubes in the center of 4 patties, then top each with another patty. Press the edges firmly together to seal, ensuring the filling stays inside during baking.
- Arrange the stuffed burgers on a large baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 25 minutes, flipping them halfway through so both sides become golden and crusty.
- Remove the tray from the oven and let the burgers rest for 5 minutes. Serve hot with a leafy salad dressed with olive oil, sea salt, and balsamic glaze.
💡 Tips
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of dried mint or cumin to the meat mixture.
- Make sure the burgers are evenly sealed to prevent the cheese from leaking out.
- Let the burgers rest after baking so they stay juicy when cut.
