This easy homemade taco seasoning is a bold, customizable blend of pantry spices—perfect for tacos, chili, and more.

Skip the store-bought packets and make your own taco seasoning with just a few common spices. This blend is free of preservatives and additives, giving you full control over the flavor and salt level.

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the garlic powder, cumin, salt, chili powder, sweet paprika, and dried oregano until evenly combined.
  2. Transfer the seasoning to an airtight container or jar. Store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.

💡 Tips

  • For a milder blend, use 2 tablespoons of chili powder instead of 3.
  • If using table salt or Morton's Kosher salt, reduce the amount to 1 1/2 tablespoons.
  • Shake or stir the seasoning before each use, as spices may settle.
