This dessert brings together the sweetness of ripe peaches and the nutty crunch of pecans in a buttery crumble. It's a classic summer treat that comes together quickly and fills the kitchen with a warm, cinnamon-spiced aroma.
The topping is a simple mix of flour, sugars, butter, and pecans, while the peaches are lightly sweetened with maple syrup and brightened with lemon. Bake until golden and bubbly, then scoop into bowls and top with ice cream.
Ingredients
Converted amounts are rounded.
Method
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt with a fork. Add the butter pieces and work them into the dry mixture using the fork until crumbly. Stir in the chopped pecans.
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced peaches with the lemon zest and lemon juice. Add the maple syrup and stir gently to coat.
- Transfer the peach mixture to a 1½-quart baking dish. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the peaches.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the topping is golden and crisp and the fruit is bubbling. Let cool slightly, then serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
💡 Tips
- For extra crunch, toast the pecans lightly before adding them to the topping.
- If your peaches are very ripe, you can reduce the maple syrup slightly.
- Serve immediately after baking for the best texture contrast.
