Forget store-bought salsas that taste flat and overly processed. This homemade version is bursting with bright, fresh flavors and comes together in under five minutes.
All you need is a food processor and a handful of simple ingredients. The result is a chunky, restaurant-style salsa that's perfect for parties, game days, or a quick healthy snack.
Ingredients
Converted amounts are rounded.
Method
- Roughly chop the onion and garlic cloves so they blend more easily.
- If you prefer a milder salsa, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeño; for extra heat, leave them in.
- Place the chopped onion, garlic, jalapeño, diced tomatoes (with their juices), cilantro, lime juice, and kosher salt in the bowl of a food processor.
- Pulse the mixture a few times until everything is combined and the salsa is chunky. Be careful not to over-process; you want a textured salsa, not a puree.
- Transfer the salsa to a serving bowl and taste for seasoning, adding more salt or lime juice if needed.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips, or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
💡 Tips
- For a smokier flavor, roast the jalapeño and onion before blending.
- If you don't have a food processor, finely chop all ingredients and mix in a bowl.
- Adjust the heat by using more or less jalapeño, or add a pinch of cayenne.
