If you’ve ever had a date shake in California, you know how addictive they are. This version skips the dairy but keeps all the creamy richness.
The secret is soaked cashews and Medjool dates, which blend into a velvety shake with no added sugar. Frozen banana adds thickness, while spices like nutmeg and cinnamon give it warmth.
Ingredients
Converted amounts are rounded.
Method
- Soak the raw cashews in a bowl of water for 2 to 4 hours. Soak the pitted dates in a separate bowl of warm water for 10 minutes. Drain both well.
- Add the drained cashews and dates to a high-speed blender. Add the frozen banana, water, ice, vanilla extract, nutmeg, cinnamon, and sea salt.
- Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth, thick, and creamy. If needed, scrape down the sides and blend again.
- Pour the shake into two glasses. Optionally, top with dairy-free whipped cream and serve immediately.
💡 Tips
- For a thicker shake, use less water or add more ice.
- If you don't have a high-speed blender, soak the cashews longer (overnight) for extra creaminess.
- This shake is best enjoyed immediately; it will thicken further if refrigerated.
